"A critical need for affordable housing in Alton" is said to have triggered Alton Town Council's controversial proposal to build on one of the town's allotment sites.
The proposal, for the possible redevelopment of the Whitedown allotments to provide low-cost housing and the relocation of allotment plots to Chawton Park Road, is to be the subject of a public meeting in the south west ward, starting at 7-30 pm on Wednesday (January 24) at Butts School.
