WHILE many businesses are tightening their belts as the recession causes more and more financial worry, East Hampshire district councillors have this week been slammed for potentially having their allowances raised by three times the rate of inflation.
From April the 44 elected members will be entitled to claim 12 per cent more for their basic allowance, a rise to £4,500 from the £4,010 of the last financial year.
