TWO Alresford teenagers have been killed in a road accident on the southbound A34.
The incident happened at 10-35 am on Sunday, around 100 metres south of Sutton Scotney service station.
A grey Vauxhall Nova SR carrying four teenagers collided with a white Peugeot 405, also with four people inside. The Nova left the carriageway and rolled over several times in an adjacent field.
The driver of the Nova, Callum Drummond (18) of Wood Lane, Bramdean, Alresford, died at the scene of the accident. A rear seat passenger, Carl Smallman (17) of Shepherds Down, Alresford, was also killed.
The two other passengers in the Nova, both 17-year-old youths from Alresford, were injured and taken to the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. One was admitted with internal injuries, while the other was released after receiving treatment for cuts and bruises.
The driver of the Peugeot, a 46-year-old man from Newbury, was uninjured in the collision, as were his wife (40) and daughters (15 and 16). However, they all suffered severe shock.
Acting Inspector Kory Thorne, said: ÒThis is a deeply distressing incident, and our sympathies are with the families and friends of the two youths who died.
ÒI am appealing for witnesses to this incident to come forward. Any information they have would be extremely helpful in trying to piece together how this tragic incident occurred.Ó
