EAST Worldham resident Sylvia Rose Barnes has become an MBE for 'services to show jumping' in the Queens New Year's Honours list.
Well-known on the show jumping circuit by UK and international riders alike, Mrs Barnes can truly be said to have devoted her life to the sport, and at the age of 88 still carries out judging duties at Britain's major shows.
Also honoured in the New Year list was local TV gardening celebrity Alan Titchmarsh, also with the MBE.
