Alton Swimming Club entered two teams into the final competition of the Holdyne Trophy against Fareham, Basingstoke and Winchester on Saturday.

The 'A' team stormed to victory in a bravura display of swimming to claim the cup.

Peter Massey won the boys' U/12 individual medley, 50m backstroke and 50m butterfly, while Zoe Coles took the ladies' individual medley and 100m freestyle.

William Ford won the men's individual medley and Charlotte Fletcher powered to victory in the girls' U/14 100m backstroke and 100m freestyle.

Also on the winner's podium for Alton were Rebecca Ford (girls' U/16 100m breaststroke), Sam Newland (boys' U/14 100m breaststroke and 100m butterfly), Laura Minns (girls' U/16 100m butterfly), Russell North (boys' U/16 100m butterfly and 100m backstroke), Emma Skemp (girls' U/14 100m butterfly), Kristie Garrett (ladies' 100m breaststroke) and Nichola Gordon-Jones (girls' U/12 50m breaststroke).

Anne Fletcher was just 17 hundredths of a second behind Nichola, recording a personal best time in a spectacular one-two for Alton.

The Alton team dominated the team relays. The 10-12yrs girls won the freestyle and medley events (Victoria Puttock, Laura Kiddle, Emily Robbins, Charlotte Fletcher). The 10-12yrs boys (Peter Massey, Michael Auger, Stephen Fox, Simon Minns) also won these relays, as did the 13-14 girls (Lucy Douglas, Rebecca Ford, Catherine Cooper, Kelly Smith) and the 13-14 boys (Russell North, John McHarg, Sam Newland, Ben Flannaghan).

As well as the many Alton wins, some fine individual efforts resulted in a string of personal best times for the following: Anne Fletcher, Emily Robbins, Emily Cooper, Stephen Fox, Sarah Gay, Sophie McCubbin, Oliver Loughran, Charlotte Marvin, Ben Flannaghan, Matthew Slade, Sophie Douglas, Sophie Keogh, Mark Pearce, Andrew Stokoe, Alex Lampton, Simon Minns, Frank Straw, Joe Smith, Netta Beardsmore, Charlotte Marvin.
