THE £90,000 in developer's contributions, part of the deal to develop the former ambulance station site, could be divided between Haslewey and more parking at Haslemere Hospital.

Waverley's development control committee discussed where the money should go at a meeting on Tuesday. Permission was granted to build eight homes on the Grayswood Road site last year, amid accusations from local people that the council was "selling planning permission".

The site has since been sold to a mystery housing developer for £1.25 million.

Councillors gave priority to two schemes, including £25,000 to provide more parking within the hospital grounds, to relieve the parking and congestion problems in Church Road.

The Primary Care Trust is understood to be able to commit funds to the project this financial year. The new car park is likely to require planning permission.

The second prioritised scheme is £25,000 to help furnish Haslewey community centre near Tesco's. Age Concern is still fundraising to provide finishing touches to the £1 million centre, due to open this month.

Other projects discussed at the meeting were: £30,000 for drainage works at Woolmer Hill sports ground; £25,000 for a new footpath at Haslemere recreation ground; £10,000 for drainage at the town meadow; £20,000 for Sunvale cemetery; £20,000 for improvements to The Herons skatepark; £15,000 for Grayswood Common play area and £9,600 for Haslemere Hall's retractable seating.

Waverley officers will now write a report on the prioritised projects and return to the committee at a later date for approval. Any spare money will go back to the committee for further discussion.
