PHYLLIS Tuckwell has recently received a donation of £617 from Farnham Music and Drama, who raised the money at their annual summer concert.
Held in the garden of the groups music and drama centre in South Farnham, the concert included performances from two orchestras who played a range of music including Strauss’ Overture to Die Fledermaus, Herold’s Clog Dance and Debussy’s ballet from Petite Suite.
The audience who numbered more than 100, also enjoyed songs from two choirs which included Let the River Run, Somewhere, Feelin’ Groovy and Rutter’s Banquet Fugue.
Farnham Music and Drama has supported Phyllis Tuckwell since 2010 and have raised more than £2,300 for the hospice care charity during that time.
This money is vitally important in funding the supportive and end of life care which Phyllis Tuckwell provides for its patients and families living with a terminal illness, such as cancer.
Edward Reeves, owner of Farnham Music and Drama who conducted the orchestras on the night, said: “It was a wonderful evening which brought people together to enjoy playing and listening to music.
“We were delighted that it raised this fantastic amount of money for such a good cause, and very glad that the afternoon’s rain disappeared and the sun came out just as we started to play.”
Charli Quay-Barnham, community fundraiser at Phyllis Tuckwell, added: “We would like to thank Farnham Music and Drama for this generous donation and for their continued support. We have to raise over £20,000 a day and therefore rely heavily on fundraising events such as this.”
