FURIOUS residents at two locations in Tilford on Tuesday entered their sixth week without phone contact, after Openreach failed to meet pledges to repair their lines on at least five occasions.

It was during the storm of December 23 that, in separate incidents, trees crashed onto cables, cutting off the phones of households close to the river bridge in Tilford Road and for most of Sheephatch Lane.

Promised repair dates have come and gone without any appearance by phone engineers. Often no reasons have been given, although some residents have been told of "a need to order cable" or to receive approval for traffic lights.
