SURREY County Council wants to dump its Saturday dustcarts service at Wey Hill Fairground car park and redirect residents to Witley Community Recycling Centre in a bid to cut costs.

County councillor Nikki Barton alerted town councillors to the proposed closure at their full council meeting last Thursday and triggered a volley of objections from members, who vividly recalled the fierce fight the town put up when the service was threatened a few years ago.
