THE sun couldn’t have picked a better time to make an appearance as Bupa’s Waverley Grange care home celebrated the opening of its new garden last Friday.

Outgoing manager Sachin Rajkumarsingh said the Care Quality Commission’s outstanding-rated home’s new outdoor space is designed to encourage residents to get outdoors, with bowling and golf putting greens among its ample attractions.

The home’s oldest resident, Anne Marie Shotts, who is approaching her 103rd birthday, was given the honour of cutting the ribbon.

Sachin, who is soon to move on after three years at Waverley Grange, said: “It’s been an ongoing project and we’ve managed to get it done.

“After getting the outstanding rating and creating a fantastic outdoor area, I feel I’ve come to the point where it’s time for a new challenge.”
