THE University of the Third Age (U3A) in Farnham has celebrated its silver anniversary with a party at the Farnham Maltings.

More than 100 members were joined by special guests the Mayor of Farnham, Pat Frost and Sir Ray Tindle who gave interesting and amusing speeches, and both wished the members well for the next 25 years.

The party started with an introduction from chairman Sue Willson, followed by a superb display of tap dancing by members of the tap dancing group, then a production of ‘Alice in Blunderland’ written and produced by Rosemary Wisbey.

The tappers returned for a second display of their talents, followed by a Jubilee Song, again written by Rosemary Wisbey, then a few numbers of jubilee jazz by Esmond Clements, John Wright and Brian Lowry.

The celebration cake was cut by founder member and the first secretary of Farnham U3A, Mary Greville, finishing with a chance to meet and catch up with friends over refreshments and a message sent from the family of founder, the late Tony Collier.
