ALTON All Saints’ Knitters Anonymous group have put their needles to work once again in aid of Syrian refugees.
The group has been furiously knitting blankets, hats, scarves and children’s clothing in response to an appeal by Alton Aid, the charity set up and led by Susannah Stredder, landlady of The George pub.
Meeting in All Saints church hall on the third Tuesday afternoon of the month, members use generously donated wool to make toys, garments and blankets, all of which go to a wide range of charities, be they local, national or international.
