A LORRY has again overturned after striking the Wrecclesham railway bridge on Friday morning, blocking a lane of the A325 and causing disruption to public transport.

The latest HGV to hit the bridge in Wrecclesham Hill comes amid growing calls for safety improvements on the village’s roads following the tragic death of mum-of-two Amy Harris in September.

Police are currently directing traffic at the scene, with the lorry blocking the southbound lane of the A325, and the cab perched precariously against the wall of the bridge at a 45 degree angle over the pavement.

Northbound traffic is being allowed to pass the stricken HGV, but police are preventing vehicles joining the A325 at the Coxbridge Roundabout from the A31.

It is currently unknown whether anyone has been injured in the incident, which was reported at around 10am, or whether trains between Farnham and Alton have been affected.

However, Network Rail’s control team is believed to have visited the scene and deemed there is no structural damage to the bridge.

Stagecoach has confirmed buses are being diverted away from the area.
