ALTON Town Council has agreed in principle to grant a building licence which could see the construction of a junior football hub at Anstey Park.
Despite being told that they had "no public mandate" for such an act, councillors felt bound to comply with the request for a licence as a way of progressing a potential application by Asda supermarket to develop the Coors Sports Ground site in Anstey Road.
