ANSTEY Junior School’s recent sporting hot streak continued with double success in football competitions.
The girls’ and boys’ teams – both of whom had qualified to reach the East Hampshire qualification round – managed to win their respective competitions.
The boys, champions from the Alton schools’ competition a month earlier, executed their tactics to perfection, losing only once and conceding only one goal in six games. This resulted in them being declared the champions of East Hampshire.
The girls, however, went one better.
Dominant throughout, they won every game of the tournament without conceding a goal, resulting in them also being declared district champions.
The girls’ next competition will be the prestigious Hampshire Games, where they will represent East Hampshire.
The school is exceedingly proud of both teams and all those involved in their recent sporting successes.
Particular recognition goes to Greg Lott, the PE manager who, in his first year in post, is having a successful year managing the teams.
