ALTON’S Anstey Junior School has seen the culmination of another fine year of sport with a successful trip to the Hampshire School Games in Aldershot.
Competing in the Quad Kids competition, Year 5 and Year 6 children from the junior school finished in a fine 11th position.
The games, which is the highest level of primary sport, is a competition for children from across the county. Participating in events ranging from standing long jump to vortex throw, Anstey’s pupils were a credit to themselves and the school.
The Hampshire Games is the latest in a succession of sporting achievements for Anstey this year. Top two finishes throughout the year have included dodgeball, rounders, athletics and girls’ football.
A school spokesman said: “With 41 per cent of the school’s cohort (according to a recent pupil survey) having competed in inter-school events this year, the whole school are justifiably proud of their achievements!”
