HAMPSHIRE County Council is urging local people to voice strong opposition to proposed massive new house building in Hampshire which threatens to "swallow up our countryside".

HCC leader Ken Thornber has proclaimed himself "bitterly disappointed" that, despite throwing out proposals by an independent panel, which recommended the construction of an additional 1.1 million extra homes in the South East by the year 2016, Mr Prescott has also rejected the 718,000 figure put forward by regional planners, SERPLAN.
