Officers at Whitehill police station combined uniformed and undercover patrols to deter shoplifting at the Forest Shopping Centre and in Liphook and Grayshott.
Inspector Gerry Thorne said he believed an increased police presence was key in deterring potential shoplifters and vowed to repeat the exercise when resources allow.
He said: ÒIt was nice to be able to put some additional officers out there for a bit of public reassurance.
ÒI think that this is something that we will do again, and not necessarily only at Christmas, but during the year as well when money and resources allow.Ó
Similar schemes in Alton and Petersfield were also deemed a success by police officers.
