CITIZENS Advice East Hampshire is looking for volunteer assessors for its Petersfield office to start training this month.
In the past few months, Citizens Advice has introduced new services and restyled its look and approach to giving advice.
“We are now offering real time web chat and e-mail along with the core face to face and adviceline services to users. This means more volunteers with a variety of skills are welcome,” said Stephen Randall, service delivery manager for Petersfield.
“No day is the same when volunteering” with Citizens Advice,” added Stephen. “The work is both rewarding and challenging to the individual.”
Citizens Advice East Hampshire was part of the national network of bureaux that won Charity of the Year in 2015 as voted by the Charity Times Awards in October. By joining as a volunteer in Petersfield, newcomers will be joining 21,000 others who have helped of two-and-a-half million people with 6.2 million problems nationwide.
“Volunteering not only benefits the organisation or charity, there are many positive benefits to the individual too,” said Liz Phillips, who began volunteering five years ago.
“As well as all the usual feel-good factors gained when you volunteer like contributing to the community, keeping active, getting out of the house, meeting new people and trying something new, volunteering can allow the individual to learn new skills, increase confidence and develop talents.”
