A FRESH appeal has been launched this week to fund a life-saving defibrillator opposite Farnham Station.

The Aston Defibrillator Fund (ADF), launched this month, has already secured a location for the device at the former Squire’s Kitchen premises in Hones Yard.

But help is needed to raise the £1,500 needed for the public access defibrillator (PAD) and heated cabinet.

It comes as part of the ADF’s mission to plug gaps in the town’s PAD network, supported by the Herald’s own Have a Heart campaign.

A PAD has already been bought for Farnham Park, thanks to scrap metal merchant T Baker (Junr) Ltd meeting the Herald’s £1,500 target within hours of hitting news stands in June, and is set to be installed imminently.

But since its recent formation, the ADF has been targeting other areas in the town with high footfall, and low existing coverage.

The first is the immediate area around Farnham Station.

“The nearest PAD to this is on the South Street locality office, which is simply too far away from this heavy footfall area,” said Keith Harris, trustee of the new ADF charity.

Fellow trustee Joanna Michaelides added: “We are very grateful to Hones Yard for this support in agreeing to site a PAD in this perfect location and hope that, with community support, it can soon be funded and installed.”

Marion Parnell, Hone’s Yard chief executive, said: “We would be delighted to help this essential community initiative and will happily provide 24/7 access to the PAD and provide our support with the provision of power and maintenance support.”
