DISMAYED parents and children at Alton's Mayfield School heard on the first day of their new term on Tuesday that the school, in Anstey Road, was likely to close in April.
The bad news was confirmed at a meeting of staff and parents on Wednesday evening this week. The school will close on April 7 was all that headteacher Heather Gibbs was able to confirm, as the matter is in the hands of its proprietor Sean White.
