POLICE are appealing for witnesses following a bookmakers raid. Just after 9pm on Monday a ginger-haired man was playing a fruit machine in the Tote bookmakers in the High Street. He was approached by another man who pulled out a metal file and demanded money from him. Both men then turned to a member of staff who was cashing up and asked her where the money was. The ginger-haired man then grabbed around £170 in cash and both men left the store together. The cash was largely 2p and 50p coins in a blue coinage tray. The first man is described as white, with ginger hair and in his late teens or early 20s. He had pitted skin and was wearing a dark hooded top, and jeans. The second man was wearing a dark hooded top, zipped up to cover his face. Detective Constable Richard Skillern, from Alton CID, said: "We are appealing to the public to help with our investigation. "This incident happened at a time in the evening when people may have been around."
