FARNHAM Art Society’s popular Art on the Railings project returns for its fifth year this Saturday (May 7) and will resume every Saturday between 10am and 4pm until October.

The setting of the railings at Riverside Walk, which runs alongside the River Wey beside the Farnham Maltings, offers an ideal space, enabling passers-by to stand back safely and view the art work hung on the railings – as well as keeping socially distanced.

There will often be over a hundred images on sale, including 3D mediums.

Stewart Dakers, Farnham Art Society member, said: “The number of artists who displayed in the past was in excess of 50 so there is more than enough variety of style. Prices are reasonable and realistic, and the artists themselves are frequently available to have a chat.

“There are considerable advantages to both buyer and artist in exhibiting in this way. It is informal, without pressure and naturally prices do not have to reflect gallery commissions, often of 50 per cent.

“It brings people into the town, and after you have viewed – and bought – there is the Maltings café just across the bridge. What better way to spend a Saturday break?”
