HASLEMERE Art Society is preparing for its 122nd annual exhibition, at Haslemere Museum, which is due to be opened to the public on Saturday.
The private view for members and guests on September 9 will welcome South West Surrey Tory MP Jeremy Hunt and Haslemere Mayor Sahran Abeysundara.
The exhibition showcases the work of the society’s professional and amateur members and more than 200 paintings and drawings, sculpture and ceramics will be on show in two galleries.
Participating artists include society president Roger Dellar, Sonya Vine, Anne Bewsey, Robbie Murdoch, Colin Wilson and Ruth Bacmeister.
This year there will be an inaugural presentation of the Alan Thomson Award which is to include work from all categories and will be given annually.
Alan has been a member of the society since 1971 and is highly regarded as a water colour painter and for his classes which have been running since 1987.
This year the President’s Trophy subject “Spring is here” was won by Barbara Murray and her work will be among those on show.
The society is also looking forward to seeing member Robbie Murdoch on a new BBC show “School of Art” which will see amateur artists mentored by leading names.
Works are for sale and can be reserved, and the exhibition is open until September 17 during museum hours, Tuesdays-Saturdays 10am-5pm.
