THE Alresford Art Society will soon be taking up residence in the town’s community centre to stage its annual exhibition, where more than 120 pieces of art, including sculpture, mosaic, collage, lino cuts, paintings and folios in every medium, will be on display.

This year’s exhibition, at the centre on West Street, will be open from 10am to 5pm on Friday, June 30, and Saturday, July 1, and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, July 2.

Alresford MP Steve Brine will officially open the exhibition at the Society’s launch party.

Exhibits will cover subjects ranging from seascapes, landscapes, Hampshire views and buildings to vibrant holiday scenes, steam trains, delicate flower studies and portraits – both animal and human.

Most of the exhibits will be on sale, along with cards of paintings by society members.

Prizes will be awarded for the People’s Choice award (voted for by exhibition visitors), won last year by Jeannie Pakenham, as well as Best Newcomer and Best Watercolour named in memory of talented watercolourist Rachel Thomsen.
