FOOTBALL legend George Best, who has lived in Liphook for the past two years, will face no further action over allegations of indecently assaulting a young girl and hitting a woman. The former Manchester United and Northern Ireland footballer, 59, was bailed last month after being arrested and questioned by Surrey Police over the claims. He had been due to answer bail at a police station on Wednesday of last week, but a police statement said that was now cancelled. Best's agent, Phil Hughes, told The Herald: "We are obviously delighted. This has been an absolutely horrible time for George. "Especially for someone of George Best's standing, these kind of allegations will have inflicted untold damage on his bookings for public appearances." Mr Hughes went on to say: "It's such a relief for George that it's all over." Last month Best was told to leave the Liphook health spa Forest Mere, after owner Stephen Purdew finally ran out of patience with his alcohol-fuelled misdemeanours. Best had been living at Forest Mere for two years.
