The association manages the Forest Community Centre, on Pinehill Road, Bordon, and Pinewood Village Hall, on Rydal Close, Bordon, and generates funds of some £80,000 per annum.
Candidates should have experience of, or interest in, financial management or event organisation and promotion.
The chairman of the board of trustees, Lawrence Tristram, said: “We are seeking new people and ideas at this very exciting time, with all the town’s regeneration activities and the arrival of the new owners of the nearby shopping centre.
“This is an attractive opportunity for residents and could provide an interesting stepping stone for those who have ambitions to get into local politics. It is very rewarding and is not overly demanding as we meet only seven times a year.
“We are also seeking associate members from outside Whitehill or Bordon, and volunteers who have an interest in local community matters, who might like to come forward with a view to becoming a trustee in the future.”
The role of the trustees is: to ensure the financial wellbeing of the centre; to develop and monitor a business plan; to maximise its usage by organising attractive events; to generate long-term relationships with regular users; to liaise with, and provide guidance to, the manager and her staff; to encourage the support of volunteers, and to create close ties with the local community and media.
To apply, call centre manager Lindsay Kelly, at the Forest Community Centre, on 01420 488978 or e-mail [email protected].
