THE Assistant Chief Constable of Hampshire has assured residents that the town will still have 24-hour policing when Whitehill police station closes.

But many in the public gallery, at the East Hampshire Community Forum last Tuesday, expressed their doubts over Laura Nicholson's words.

Whitehill police station is due to close as part of a £4m cost-cutting exercise by Hampshire Constabulary, in a bid to keep more officers on the beat.
