WHITEHILL vandals have attacked the same car twice in the past month, causing thousands of pounds worth of damage. On Friday, July 13, vandals caused damage to the paint work of the Mercedez Benz C220 car, which was parked on a residential driveway in Gorsedown Close, by covering it in paint stripper. Every panel of the car was affected, dulling the paint and in some places causing the paint work to bubble. The solution that was poured onto the car also affected the windows and lights. The second incident occurred exactly one month later on the evening of Saturday, August 13 and involved the same method of vandalism. More of the eroding solution was poured on the car, in some places completely removing the paint to the bare metal. The owner, who wishes to remain anonymous, said: "I've lived here for more than 20 years and nothing like this has ever happened before." The second incident took a more sinister twist, when the vandals caused damage to the wall of a back tyre on the car. The nature of the damage, meant that air stayed in the tyre when stationary, but with the extra pressure caused through travelling at speed, would have almost certainly resulted in a blow-out police confirmed. "It was lucky the police spotted the damage before I drove the car – I could have been killed and worse still, I could have had my grandchildren in the car with me. "It's so distressing, and is something that really worries me," said the owner. Anyone with further information about the two incidents, call Hampshire Police on 0845 04
