LOVERS of classic re-enactments are expected to flock to Alton Assembly Rooms on Friday, April 28, for a screening of Pride and Prejudice.
Organised by Alton Town Council’s community and events committee as part of the celebrations commemorating 200 years since the death of Jane Austen, this is one of two cinema screenings with tickets free on a first-come, first-served basis.
Selected by the public, the 2005 adaptation of the Austen novel features Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennett and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr Darcy.
It will be followed on September 15 by a showing of the 1995 adaptation of Sense and Sensibility, staring Emma Thompson as Elinor Dashwood, Kate Winslet as Elinor’s younger sister Marianne, and Hugh Grant and Alan Rickman as their respective suitors.
Both films will be screened at 10am (when schools will be welcome), 2pm and 7.30pm.
Tickets for the screenings are available from Alton Town Hall by calling 01420 83986 or e-mailing [email protected].
