MORE than 100 members and supporters of Farnham School of Tae Kwon Do gathered last month for the club’s annual awards presentation for 2017.
Established in 2010, Farnham School of Tae Kwon Do has enjoyed another successful year in 2017, increasing its membership and adding new classes and programmes. Once again, the tournament squad performed to a high standard throughout the year, winning medals in international, national and regional tournaments.
The club continues to take Tae Kwon Do to a wider audience in the local community through its work with local schools and youth groups. Its head instructor and coach, Tim Ayres-Townshend, also runs practical self-defence classes for pupils at Weydon School as well as running self-defence classes for men and women in the local community.
The award winners were: Student of the Year - Oliver Contreras; Competitor of The Year - Will Oxley;
Most Improved Student - Ellie Houghton; Ninja of the Year (5 to 7 year olds) - Ruby Collins; Courtesy - Henry Lewis; Theory - Maria Parratt; Perseverance - Caleb Allen; Effort - Hayden Owen; Leadership - Nick Nawrattel; Sparring - Will Oxley; Patterns - Daisy Johnson; Best New Students - Lewis Wilson & Dimitri Perricos; Special Team of Role Models - Monty Warner, Tyla Nawrattel, Nicole Oxley, Melissa Oxley.
The tournament squad is now preparing for the GTI English Open Championship later this month.
