THE owners of The Three Horseshoes at East Worldham have scooped another accolade to add to their collection, after being named as a Master Cellarman by the Fullers brewery. The pub, which is situated on the B3004 and is over 300 years old, was awarded the excellent standard status, following frequent cellar inspections throughout the year. Earlier this year, the husband and wife team who run the pub, Jacqui and Brian Thomas were thrilled to discover that their pub had been nominated for the 'Hampshire Pub of the Year' competition. Jacqui Thomas said: "It came as a complete surprise to realise we were in the running. We only found out when we got an e-mail telling us we had made it through to the final three!" The pub was nominated by members of the local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and managed to win the prestigious award. It has been an incredibly busy year for staff at the pub, as the summer months saw them pick up an award for their beer garden when they came second in the Fullers competition for beer garden of the year. Further to that, the pub will also feature in this year's Good Beer Guide, and have also retained the cask marque award for their fifth year in a row. It is not only the beer that is good at The Three Horseshoes, as a recent visit from environmental health officer proved. A report of the cleanliness of the accommodation and kitchen deemed the pub to be 'excellent'. Jacqui said: "It's been a really good year, and we're very pleased with everything we've managed to do. We've been incredibly busy but we try to enjoy it." To find out more about the special events at the pub, call 01420 83211.
