WAVERLEY planners have told East Street developers in no uncertain terms that construction traffic is not welcome on the town's roads.

Members of the council's joint planning committee unanimously rejected the proposals set out by Crest Nicholson to vary Condition 37, which stipulated that a temporary bridge access to the site from the A31 was put in place during the construction period.

The proposal to vary the condition, heard at a meeting last Wednesday, wanted instead to route the construction lorries through the town's roads including; Guildford Road, Hale Road, East Street, Dogflud Way, Brightwells Road and South Street.
