HAMPSHIRE County Council gave its support this week to schools whose staff feel they have been let down by this year's marking of GCSEs.
Of the 95 per cent of Hampshire schools which have reported their provisional results to the county council, 65 per cent have seen a fall in English grades.
This follows the national trend which has seen a decline in GCSE A*-C grade averages for the first time since the exams were introduced.
Sue Lockley, personal assistant to Mill Chase headteacher Jackie Adams, said this week that the school did not yet have the full results collated and so the Bordon secondary school was unable to comment on how students had performed.
But she wished "a big well done to all the students", adding: "I know that they have worked very hard."
