CHILDREN from Badshot Lea Village Infant School showed off their traditional maypole dancing at the school’s third May Fair.

Around 60 children took part in the folk dance on May 12 while a traditional pipe organ was played.

There was plenty going on at the fair, including face painting, welly wanging, a coconut shy and a barbeque.

Gemma Ball, headteacher, said: “The little rain didn’t put people off - well over 100 families came. It started as part of our 120th birthday celebrations and was really successful so we carried it on.

“It’s got bigger as the years have gone on.”

Over £1,000 was raised for the school’s PTA, however they haven’t yet decided how it will be spent.

The school’s Summer Fair is coming up on July 7 and is a much bigger occasion, with lots expected to be going on.
