A drug-driver from East Hampshire who was caught behind the wheel has been given a community order and hefty ban by a Surrey court.

Guildford Magistrates Court heard on Wednesday, January 7, that Daniel Beasley failed a blood test after being stopped by police in Redhill in early 2025.

The 29-year-old of Winchester Road, Alton, had an above-legal level of cannabinoid in his system and was also caught in possession of two Class B drugs.

The court heard that police ordered Beasley to have a drug test after stopping a Ford Mondeo on Batts Hill in the town on March 1, last year.

He was later found to be narrowly over the drug-drive limit as he tested positive for Delta-9 THC (Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol), giving a reading of 2.5 micrograms of analyte per litre of blood, with 2mgs being the threshold.

The court heard the defendant was also found in possession of 2.40 grams of amphetamine and a small quantity of cannabis.

Beasley admitted to the drug-driving charge and the two counts of possession with magistrates giving credit for his guilty pleas.

The defendant was given an obligatory 20-month driving ban and ordered to complete 80 hours of unpaid work through a community order supervised by Aldershot Magistrates Court.

He was also ordered to pay £85 costs and a £114 surcharge for the drug-driving offence.

No separate penalty was imposed for the possession charges with magistrates ordering the forfeiture and destruction of the drugs.

East Hampshire police also recently reported that a suspected drug-driver was also arrested during the first week of January following a road traffic collision in Bordon.

A further vehicle was seized after a disqualified motorist was found behind the wheel in Kingsley during the same week, with the male in question due to appear in court.
