A Farnham man has made the most expensive phone call of his life as he’s been given a six-month driving ban.

Guildford Magistrates Court heard police caught Martin Chaza using his mobile phone while driving a Mitsubishi along West Street on January 29.

The 43-year-old of The Chantrys also wasn’t wearing a seatbelt with the defendant pleading guilty to both charges.

The six points handed out by magistrates for the mobile phone charge pushed Chaza past the disqualification threshold.

The driver was also fined £80 and ordered to pay £130 costs and a £48 surcharge for the offence, in addition to a further £40 fine for not wearing a seatbelt. His guilty plea was taken into account by magistrates.
