TRUSTEES of the Alder Valley Brass band, which has members from Whitehill and Bordon, were presented with a cheque for £750 by Farnham mayor John Ward.

Trustees Claire Wade and Roy Hancock were delighted to receive the cheque last month on behalf of the band, which serves north east Hampshire and Surrey.

Farnham Town Council gave the grant for the band to buy a new bass drum.

The Alder Valley Brass band - whose members come from Whitehill and Bordon, Alton and Farnham - has recently moved to its new base at Farnham’s All Hallows School and regularly plays in the town and its surrounding area.

The band is looking for new players, particularly cornet and percussion players.
