FUNSEEKERS visited The Anchor Inn pub in Lower Froyle to sample the delights of a family barbecue and beer fest, all in aid of charity.

The festival, held on bank holiday Monday, was raising money for Cardiac Rehab, as part of its “Have a Heart” campaign. The pub has chosen the cause as its charity of the year.

Martin Lovell, general manager of the Basingstoke & Alton Cardiac Rehabilitation Charity, said: “The event went really well.

“Fantastic weather, good music, beer and food with the children enjoying the bouncy castle. It started at 12pm and there were still people enjoying the atmosphere at 7pm.”

Heart disease remains one of the UK’s single biggest killers, with one in four affected by the disease and, on average, 200 people a day dying in the UK as a result. The Have a Heart campaign is aiming to raise a grand total of £200,000.

Funds raised on the day will be added to this pot.
