A FIRE in Bourne Woods at the weekend, which took firefighters three days to put out, is believed to have been started after a barbecue went out of control.

Surrey Fire and Rescue were called to Bourne Woods at 2.50pm on Saturday, following reports of a woodland fire.

About one hectare of woodland - part of the new thicket at the summit of the woods - was alight.
