ULTRA athlete Anna McNuff, who is running 100 marathons barefoot, included Haslemere in her epic UK challenge on November 6.

Anna is set to finish in London on Sunday, November 17.

She took up the 2,620-mile odyssey in June to encourage other young women to push themselves and is talking to girlguiding groups along the way.

Her Haslemere run started in Chichester and she spoke to local girl guides, rainbows and brownies that evening.

Anna said: “I had a great turnout from local runners – both into and out of Haslemere. And an equally great turnout from the local Girlguiding group in the evening. It felt wonderful to cross back into Surrey – the county I was born in.

“Some rough tarmac on the roads led to us taking evasive action into trails, but thankfully there are a lot of those in these parts. And seeing autumn in full colourful swing was a superb distraction from getting cold toes.”
