A community pantry has opened at Café 1759 in Whitehill & Bordon.

Anyone with a GU35 postcode can join and membership costs £1 per year.

Customers can choose ten items for £3.50 or 15 for £5 and it opens Tuesday to Friday, 9am to 3pm, and Saturday, 9am to 2pm. It is funded by Hampshire County Council’s Connect4Communities fund.

The not-for-profit Café 1759 is backed by the Abri housing association. Its communities and involvement manager Cita Jagot said: “We know rising bills are having a huge impact on everyone, and we want to help as many people as we can.”
