A FIGHT by Whitehill Town Council has begun to stop housing development on Viking Park - the last piece of open land in the town which, 10 years ago, was designated for retail and leisure use.

So far, a food manufacturer and a pub occupy part of the park, and Asda is due to put in an application to build a supermarket on the site, but as yet no entrepreneurs have come forward to build the longed-for cinema, a bowling alley or a sports hall.
