MORE than 70 people turned out for a public meeting in Beacon Hill last week which saw the birth of SWAG – the Save The Woodcock Action Group.

They have pledged to fight a planning application to demolish The Woodcock pub and build five houses on the site.

And as the campaign gathers pace, locals say they are willing to put their hands in their pockets to becoming shareholders and re-open it as a community pub.
