ONE the last remaining pieces of the town's precious historic past could be lost forever if a plan to turn a 17th century High Street alleyway into a shop gets the go ahead.

The narrow alleyway, between two existing Listed buildings and within a conservation area, is a recognised and admired historic feature of the town.
