A HIGHLY controversial Petersfield Town Council-owned greenfield site is set to become a major political battlefield with the news that a housing developer has been given first refusal.

The option to build houses on the 10-acre site known as Pennsfield has been sold to housing developers Cala Homes for what is believed to be a six-figure sum.
