THERE will be a shining light at Gibbet Hill when a Queen's Diamond Jubilee beacon will be lit up on the Hindhead landmark, on Monday, June 4.

The gas beacon will be part of a coordinated network of 4,000 such luminous tributes lit by communities across the UK, as a symbol of unity and support for the Queen.

The jubilee gas beacon will be lit by Waverley mayor Tony Gordon-Smith at 10.15pm, with the help of a young person from Beacon Hill.

The occasion will be marked with the playing of the National Anthem.
