RESURRECTION Furniture in Alton is auctioning this beautiful apothecary and will donate a percentage of the proceeds to help refugees from Ukraine.
Shop supervisor Debbie Uys said: “We are often astonished by the generosity of our donors, so we want to share it with everyone to make sure that it goes to a good home.
“We are so aware of the needs of refugees, especially now. During March Resurrection Furniture is going to give a percentage of its income to Alton’s Ukrainian appeal, including from what we receive for this fine piece of furniture.”
The piece features 43 drawers of various sizes housed within a framed cabinet. It is believed to be late Victorian with hand-made drawers of dovetailed construction fitted with turned wooden knobs and brass label holders.
The beauty of the piece of furniture speaks for itself. A simple wax polish has been applied to enhance the warm natural colour of the drawer fronts. The overall dimensions are 175cm wide by 31cm deep, with a height of 137cm – approximately 70in by 12in by 54in.
It can be viewed in person at the shop, which is open from Tuesday to Saturday between 10am and 4pm.
The shop is using sealed bids to make sure the auction process is fair for all. Put your bid in an envelope with your name and contact details by midday on Tuesday, March 29. Post it to 24 High Street, Alton, Hampshire GU34 1BU, or pop it through the letter box .
