BELLS Piece Leonard Cheshire Disability service in Hale Road will open its gates for the National Garden Scheme this Sunday, June 25, from 10.30am to 4pm.
This year Bells Piece will be opening the whole of its gardens and poly tunnels to the general public to have a look at what the service is all about.
The cost of entry will be £5 for adults, to go to the NGS’s chosen charities. There will be a plant sale, and refreshments and cream teas will be served on the lawn.
Bells Piece offers a range of activities to adults with a wide range of learning disabilities, and horticulture is a large part of this programme.
Clients are encouraged to partake in all aspects of growing plants and vegetables, sowing seed, potting on and yes, weeding.
The fruits of their labour are then sold at an on-site shop, as well as helping produce delicious jams and chutneys in Bells Piece’s training kitchen to also sell to visitors.
In addition, clients have their own allotments where they grow their choice of veg and plants to take home.
