FARNHAM’S British Heart Foundation charity shop is running its ‘Bag It. Beat It’ campaign in a bid to encourage more donations.

According to a survey by the BHF, 41 per cent of residents in the South East do not find the time to donate unwanted goods to charity shops. But 21 per cent of South East England residents admit to not wanting to be seen wearing the same outfit twice, leading to a large clothing wastage which could be given to charity stores.

The BHF’s annual Bag It. Beat It campaign aims to boost the number of bags of unwanted items, such as clothes, books, bags and accessories, being donated to BHF stores. An increase in donated goods means there is more stock to sell in stores, generating more money for the charity’s research.

The charity’s shop in The Borough supported the campaign launch, and there was also a BHF information stand at the Farnham Maltings to raise awareness. The campaign runs until Saturday, September 30, and the foundation hopes to receive more than one million bags across the country.

There is even a free collection service for BHS to collect your bags, making donating easy. Find out more about the campaign online at bagit.bhf.org.uk/bag-it-beat-it-donations/.
